Fish name translation from english to telugu

Fish name translations from english to telugu:-

  • King fish - Vanjaram chepa, Konemu
  • Croaker/ Jew fish - pullipana, tella, gorasa
  • Red snapper - Koramemu, thunduva,rangu
  • Mullet fish -  Bontha chepa, koniga
  • White mullet / milk fish - Pala bontha chepa
  • Salmon - Maga chepa, budathamaga
  • Thilapia - not available in india but closet spices weget(poola chepa)
  • Anchovy fish / smelt - Netallu,poorva,kelba
  • Cat fish - jella chepa, walaga
  • Bengal carp - Botcha chepa
  • crab - petallu
  • Prawn / shrimp - royallu
  • Indian goat fish - Goolivinda
  • Mackerel - konnagadatha,kanagarthalu
  • White carp / mrigal - Arju, yerramosa, ballalasnosa
  • Snake head / murrel - erramotta, mottu,mokhrava
  • White pomfret - tella chanduva (Closest we find in USA is Pompano)
  • Black pomfret - Nalla chanduva
  • Carp fish - bangaru Papa (called in some places of andhra)
  • Shark - sora chepa, soraputtu
  • Spanish mackerel -  Vanjaramu,  konema
  • Hilsa - Pulasa Chepa

    lots of thanx to harikas kitchen:)..i live in u.a.e.,we get a wide varieties of fish here. but i dont know their telugu names so i always buy pomfret or king fish or rohu...but now this translation will help me a lot...thanx once again.....
